چکیده

This study presents the distribution of bacterial and fungal abundances in long-term copper (Cu) contaminated soils Topolnitsa-Pirdop valley – a highly industrialized zone with number mines processing plants for other non-ferrous metals. The (16S rRNA gene copies) (ITS were estimated using quantitative PCR technique five topsoils, differently Cu (ranging from 28.05 to 198.9 mg kg -1 ). Bacterial abundance varied range 1.68 × 10 11 3.24 16S genes, whereas fungi amounted 1.95 8 6.71 ITS genes. Fungal significantly (fungi) insignificantly (bacteria) influenced by contamination. fungal/bacterial ratio related negatively soil Cu, which shifted microbial communities’ structure towards dominance. Since between bacteria are vital explaining many functions, calculated changes this indicated deterioration quality, being primary importance plant production.

Discrepancy of the microbial response to elevated copper between freshly spiked and long-term contaminated soils.

A systematic comparison of Cu toxicity thresholds was made between freshly spiked soils and soils in which elevated Cu concentrations have been present for various times. Three uncontaminated soils were spiked and experimentally leached or incubated outdoors for up to 18 months. Additionally, five field-contaminated soils with a 6- to 80-year-old Cu contamination were sampled, and corresponding...

Microcalorimetric assessment of microbial activity in long-term fertilization experimental soils of Southern China.

Microcalorimetry, plate count and PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) were employed to investigate microbial diversity and activity in soils from the Red Soil Experimental Station of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hunan Province, China, where a wheat-corn rotation with 12 fertilization treatments was established in 1990. Fertilization greatly increased microbial bi...

Abundance and diversity of Archaea in heavy-metal-contaminated soils.

The impact of heavy-metal contamination on archaean communities was studied in soils amended with sewage sludge contaminated with heavy metals to varying extents. Fluorescent in situ hybridization showed a decrease in the percentage of Archaea from 1.3% +/- 0.3% of 4', 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole-stained cells in untreated soil to below the detection limit in soils amended with heavy metals. A c...
